Compton All Saints Church of England Primary School

Music

We are able to offer music lessons for children who wish to learn to play an instrument. We currently offer tuition for guitar, keyboard and violin. Lessons take place during the school day and are usually in small groups with children of similar abilities grouped together. Children have the opportunity to play in assembly from time to time and in the summer term we put on an evening concert for parents.

We have recently been nominated by Hampshire Music Service for membership of Music Mark, a national subject association for music education. Nominations are made in recognition of one (or more) of the following:

  • evidence of a willingness to engage in a development conversation related to improving music provision
  • recognition of the value of music education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum
  • a strategy for music in place, which provides for all children

School Membership is founded on Music Mark's strategy of influencing, supporting and connecting. Specifically, they aim to:

  • advocate for the role of music in and beyond the curriculum
  • support schools in the delivery of high-quality music teaching
  • connect schools and staff with the wider music education sector
